The first Budget Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 6:00 pm, City Hall Council Chambers, 400 E. Main Street.  At that meeting the Budget Officer will present the 2024-25 Proposed Budget for the Committee’s consideration. A Public Hearing will be held on the uses of State Revenue Sharing monies, as well as public comment will be taken along with requests for appropriations.   Additional Budget Committee meetings have been slated for the following Thursday, May 16th at 6:00 p.m., and on May 21st at 6:00 p.m. if needed.  The Budget Committee Meeting Agenda and the Budget document will be available at City Hall and on the City’s web page www.cottagegroveor.gov no later than May 10, 2024.    For more information on how to attend virtually or in person in the Council Chambers, and/or how to submit comments electronically or in person, please refer to the Budget Committee Agenda for details.

City Council Work Session
On May 18, 2024 the City Council will hold a Worksession on Homelessness.  The worksession will start at 8:30 am in the Shepherd Room at the Cottage Grove Community Center.

The City Council will receive and discuss the following presentations:

  • The history and hard costs for shelter operations in Cottage Grove over the last three fiscal years.
  • Shelters in Lane County that St. Vincent de Paul operates.
  • Rules and regulations under Federal Courts and State Law.
  • Actionable steps the City Council could take regarding the Highway 99, 12th Street, and N. Douglas Street shelters.

One of the City Staff’s proposals will be to construct a new shelter at the Cottage Grove Water Reclamation Facility between the large effluent pond and the ODOT Connector. This site could accommodate all the un-housed at the 12th Street and N. Douglas shelters so those two shelters could be closed.

The City Council will not take any action at the worksession.  The City Council will continue their discussion and consider taking action at their Tuesday, May 28, 2024 Regular Meeting.  All City Council actions must comply with Federal and State rules and regulations.
